Rebuilding Veteran Lives        Short Term Housing     Innovative Employment       Foundation of Support

OUR MISSION

Change Haven EMPOWERS veterans and their families to obtain INDEPENDENCE by providing emergency housing and innovative employment strategies promoting long-term

SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

OUR REASON

Change Haven is the caregivers who love our soldiers through dark moments. Change Haven is the veteran who will never leave a battle buddy behind.

We are the children who have no home state because we moved where the military sent us. We are the mothers who have lost our children.

Change Haven Board Members, Committee Member and volunteers understand the effects of trying to come home after the war and feeling lost. We are the voice when our military community is not being heard.

Change Haven volunteers are military-affiliated.

We have experience being lost in the system, or

lost in our lives and having our family torn apart.

Our team is committed to guiding our brothers

& sisters holistically.

What does that mean? Holistically?

Well, it means we look at the whole picture.

We don't guide our clients based on our goals,

but the client's view of success.

"Found myself homeless due to losing my job because of COVID.  I had a hard time finding a new one & finally got evicted from my apartment."

CH Plan of Action: Work with a Financial Advisor to build a budget to help repair credit. Work with Pikes Peak Workforce to locate new job. Work with Veteran Service Officer to see if I qualify for VA disability.

"I am glad I found the Comradery House. They are helping me get on my feet and guiding me on the community resources specific to me."

F. Graves

Army/ Honorable Discharge

"I got into trouble with the legal system and I am focused on building myself back. I was living in the shelter for about a month looking for a job, but couldn't find anything."

Plan of Action:  Locate a job, apply for VA benefits, and meet with the financial advisor to build a budget and locate an apartment.

"Change Haven has helped me by allowing me to focus on my future rather than my safety. They provided me with food, a warm bed and I am able to get a good nights rest."

T. Shields

Army/ Honorable Discharge

"I have been in Colorado Springs since I was discharged in 1991. Our community has grown and I dont make enough to live. I receive money from my retirement, but its not enough."

CH Plan of Action: Work with Medicaid office to get on Medicaid. Work with VSO to increase VA benefits. Schedule with VA medical. Locate transportation to get to medical appointments.

" I feel safe at Change Haven. I can lock my door & sleep at night. I have a plan to get on my feet and it feels good."
